Gig Review: IBAR

Today was a really good day over all, I had the pleasure of meeting the drummer from the band llama face; what an awesome guy! Found out he’s going to be helping the organisation of the rendezvous festival. That’s going to be totally awesome, as I love his personality, and love his band’s music!

I’d never been to IBAR before, so it was a new experience for me totally… I really liked the venue, accompanied by the underground feel, the music continued to wow me. I loved Llama face’s set, that singer has an awesome powerful voice!

I played 6 songs, and I feel it went down well, can’t wait for the rendezvous festival as it’s going to be another chance for me to see llama face!

Would love to see you all down there!

thanks very much for the support!

Gig Review: Winton Carnival

What a lovely day it was today; the sun was shining, the people were relaxed and the music was awesome! Fearne were due to be playing today at the Winton Carnival but when they had to pull out due to other commitments they recommended me to perform instead of them; what an honor! Considering I was over the moon to just meet them last week this opportunity was such a surprise! I play 8 songs today, a mixture of covers and my own material, and I feel that the set went well; The audience were really appreciative! It was so nice to perform at a place where everyone just seemed to pull together; the sound crew and organisers were really friendly and easy to approach, and the crowd was extremely supportive throughout the whole day! Hopefully I will be asked to play again next year because I LOVED playing today and would LOVE to go back again! Tomorrow I’m playing at IBAR in Bournemouth for a film premier, will post tomorrow evening with a review! :) thanks!

Gig Review: The Pulse

The pulse was the first gig I ever actually played; when I was 12 I plucked the courage to perform Seaside by the kooks at an open mic; wow that was scary!

Since then I have had two gigs at the pulse, both with my old band, and these went down really well, I loved the sound and crowd brought to the venue. Sadly over the years, the pulse seemed to have lost interest from the youth but thanks to the new youth leader Tom things seem to be looking bright.

I wanted to support the local scene by playing two sets of songs for the younger age group, and then the older age group. I feel this went really well as it was nice to return to the venue and see who enjoys the venue that started off my music!

I am hoping to go back to the pulse next year, so I will keep you posted!

Thanks everyone at the pulse!

Gig Review: The Beford

After the 3 hours journey, through traffic jams we eventually arrived!

Situated on the corner of a busy street, the bedford’s music scene appears hidden, covered by the pub themed layout and bar, but as you pass through the back doors you are presented with a beautiful circular auditorium filled with candlelit tables and a sufficiently sized stage, with professional lighting and sound.

I played 4 songs throughout the night, and was also honored to meet a series of wonderful people. Firslty Tony Moore; Owner of the Bedford music section was a friendly, warming host to the evening, and his kind words have inspired me greatly. Secondly I met a man who is currently finishing his tour with Athlete; a band who I love, Jon Bilbrough. Wow, what an amazing talent, his bhangra style infuses Indian Raga with an alternative acoustic vibe chills you as you hear it. check him out at www.jonbilbrough.com !

As well as this, I recommend you check out the bedford at www.myspace.com/thebedford , and also www.tonymoore.com

Thanks for all the support,

James

Gig review: Numbers, Supporting Fearne

I had only heard about the venue about a week before I played so I was eager to meet the team, and see the layout.

It’s a really great place; Nicely positioned seating arrangements, perfect for the certain events that are featured throughout the year.

The high light of the night was managing to finally meet the band ‘Fearne’ (www.myspace.com/fearne) I have been listening to their music for a while now so finally getting a chance to support them was a sort of mini dream come true.

The great thing about this gig was that everyone seemed to know eachother; The Bassist from Fearne (Nick) runs a local promotions group called Baseline promotions, as well as helping out at numbers, and there fore the whole night was wonderfully friendly.

Alex, lead singing of fearne continued to support me by stating how he thought I was a talented musican, that will surely go far, and that really inspired me aha!

I can’t wait to play at Numbers again, and I would all recommend you to pop down and check it out!

We need more places like this!
